
Julie Ellen "Tawny", Kitaen, was an American model, actress and media celebrity. She lived from May 7, 1961, until May 7 2021. Her career began as a television actor, appearing in the television movies Malibu (1983), California Girls (1985). She was also in comedy films The Perils of Gwendoline and Bachelor Party (both 1984), as well as the film of horror Witchboard (1986). Kitaen received a lot of attention for her performances in several heavy metal music videos. Some of them include Ratt's "Back for More" (1984) and Whitesnake's "Still of the Night", "Is This Love" and "Here I Go Again" (all 1987).In the decade of 2000, Kitaen transitioned into appearing on reality television series like The Surreal Life (2006) and Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew (2008) which, the latter of which documented Kitaen's problems with substance abuse. Julie Kitaen was the youngest of three children, born in San Diego in 1961 to Linda Kitaen (nee Taylor) as an actress and former beauty pageant contestant and Terry Kitaen who worked for a neon sign business. Kitaen's mother, who was from Irish and Scottish descent was married to Terry Kitaen (an employee of a neon sign company). Her father was Russian Jewish. Kitaen was raised Jewish. She first began to use the nickname "Tawny" at the age of 12 and on her own initiative. In her early years she was diagnosed with dyslexia that led her dropping out of Mission Bay High School. Seven years later, at the age of fourteen, she was given backstage access to an Peter Frampton concert at Balboa Stadium.[8She had seen Penny Frampton receiving VIP treatment and wanted to be like her.
